We offer a diverse range of learning environments, from practical laboratory classes and field trips to lectures and small group tutorials. We utilise our state-of the art research facilities to ensure that you are trained at the forefront of your discipline.
As we have more than 30 academic staff working across a wide spectrum of materials and techniques – from tissue engineering to nanotechnology, surface imaging to bioinstrumentation, materials simulation to the manufacture of liquid crystals – we are able to offer an exciting range of multidisciplinary courses.
As a multidisciplinary department, we are a hub for faculty-wide, interdisciplinary study in, for example, biomedical engineering and aerospace materials.
As a student in the Engineering Materials department, you will have the opportunity to develop the skills and knowledge required for a variety of scientific and engineering careers. Alongside technical skills, we will help you to develop the transferable and professional skills that major employers are looking for.
