Departmental Entrance Bursaries
The Department is pleased to offer entrance bursaries to the best new UK/EU students on all our degree programmes. These awards are granted in recognition of your achievements at A Level (or in equivalent qualifications) and are for the first year of study only. They are distinct from the University´s bursary scheme for UK students and can be awarded on top of any bursary you may receive from the University.
Details of First Year Entrance Bursaries for UK/EU Students 2012-2013
Entrance Bursaries are awarded to first-year students entering the Department in September 2012 if:-
- They achieve the following standard in three A Levels or equivalent qualifications:
AAA or equivalent £2,000
AAB or equivalent £1,000
ABB or equivalent £500 - They are classified by the University as a ‘home’ student for fee paying purposes.
- They firmly accept the offer of a place to study one of Single Honours Materials (including Industrial Management, Biomaterials and Modern Language; Metallurgy).
- They do not have industrial sponsorship for the first year of the course.
- They continue on a programme of study owned by this Department throughout the first year.
The bursary will be paid in a single instalment at the beginning of the Autumn semester 2012.
Applicants deferring entry are eligible for consideration for this award; payment will automatically be deferred until October 2013.

Armourers' Corus Materials Science Scholarships
We participate in the Armourers' Corus Materials Science Scholarship scheme for UK sixth-form students interested in studying a materials-based course at university. The Armourers and Brasiers' Company is one of the UK's leading charities supporting metallurgy and materials science. Success applicants to the Company's Scholarship scheme receive £350 in Years 12 and 13, with a further £350 for each year of study on a materials-related course at a participating university.
