Grace obtained her MChem in Chemistry with Pharmaceutical and Forensic Science at the University of Bradford in 2006. After spending 6 months working as a research analyst she moved to Australia to undertake a PhD at the University of Wollongong on ‘the controlled release of dexamethasone from Polyterthiophene based conducting polymers,’ which was completed in 2010. After moving back to the UK, she worked as a lead laboratory demonstrator at the University of Bradford before being appointed as a KTP Associate at the University of Sheffield in 2011.

Research interests

Grace’s PhD focussed on the electrochemical synthesis and characterisation of conducting polymers for drug release applications, with a focus on polyterthiophene and polypyrrole. Composite conducting polymer substrates were developed along with novel methods for electrochemically stimulated drug release through the use of galvanic coupling.

Current research

Current research interests are in biomaterials for orthopaedic applications, with a focus on the development and assessment of new implant coatings through materials characterisation and in vitro testing.
