2012 EMBA and MBA Scholarships
A range of scholarships are available for delegates on our MBA programmes.
Executive MBA
For January 2012 entry, tuition fee scholarships valued at 50% of the cost of tuition fees are available to the following groups:
- Female delegates
- Delegates from SMEs
- Delegates from the public sector
Further scholarships are available as follows:
- Previous alumni of the University of Sheffield are eligible to receive a scholarship to a value of 10% of tuition fees
- Two scholarships (valued at 10% of the cost of tuition fees) are available to current staff of the University of Sheffield
- There are scholarships valued at 10% of tuition fees available to members of:
- Doncaster Chamber of Commerce
- Barnsley
- Rotherham Chamber of Commerce
- Sheffield Chamber of Commerce, and
- Sheffield Junior Chamber of Commerce
- Companies sponsoring more than one member of staff on the Programme in any one academic year can apply for scholarships (10% of cost of tuition) for any additional delegates.
Full-time MBA
Overseas
China, Taiwan, Hong Kong
Five scholarships of £5000 each, awarded to applicants from China, Taiwan or Hong Kong. Scholarships will be awarded on merit. The general eligibility requirements are:
- Academic requirements – applicants should have a first or upper second class UK honours degree, or equivalent.
- Allowed study options – applicants should have received at least a conditional offer from the University to study on the full-time MBA programme.
- Personal criteria – applicants must have the personal, intellectual and interpersonal qualities necessary to make an excellent contribution to the programme.
- Residency restrictions – applicants must originate from China, Taiwan, or Hong Kong.
Closing Date: 31 May 2012. All students who are eligible for a scholarship and have accepted their offer before the closing date will be automatically considered.
Those students who are considered to be the five most outstanding as decided by a committee consisting of the Postgraduate Admissions Director, one of the School’s Admissions Tutors (preferably the one with special responsibility for China, Taiwan, and Hong Kong), and the MBA programme director will be awarded the scholarship.
The students to whom a scholarship will be awarded will receive notification before 31 July 2012. The scholarship will only be valid when the student has met all entry requirements for the MBA programme. The scholarship will be void when the student fails to register for the 2012 intake on the MBA programme.
Brazil
One fully funded scholarship valued at the cost of the full programme fee, awarded to applicants from Brazil. Scholarships will be awarded on merit. The general eligibility requirements are:
- Academic requirements – applicants should have a first or upper second class UK honours degree, or equivalent.
- Allowed study options – applicants should have received at least a conditional offer from the University to study on the full-time MBA programme.
- Personal criteria – applicants must have the personal, intellectual and interpersonal qualities necessary to make an excellent contribution to the programme.
- Residency restrictions – applicants must originate from Brazil.

Sheffield Steelers
Three fully-funded scholarships are also available to applicants from the Sheffield Steelers.
How to apply
All applicants who have been made a conditional or unconditional offer will be sent an email inviting them to apply for the relevant scholarship. The email will outline all scholarships that the applicantis eligible to apply for.
