Profile

Dr Hassan Ghadbeigi graduated in Manufacturing Engineering from Tabriz University, Tabriz, Iran. He obtained his masters degree in Mechanical Engineering from Sharif University of Technology, Tehran, Iran. He joined the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Sheffield as a PhD candidate in 2006 and was awarded his PhD in 2010. Hassan's PhD research focused on experimental and numerical modelling of chip formation and damage process in metal cutting operations.

He then worked as a Research Assistant from 2006 to 2010, and a Post-Doctoral Research Associate from 2010 to 2013. During this time he worked on various research projects including modelling and characterisation of material deformation during thermo-mechanical processing (IMMPETUS) and local deformation and damage in advanced high strength steels (Tata Steel Europe and M2i, the Netherlands). Dr Ghadbeigi was appointed as lecturer in the Department of Mechanical Engineering in 2012.

Research Areas

Dr Ghadbeigi's research themes are manufacturing methods particularly mechanics of machining processes and experimental solid mechanics. This covers characterisation of mechanical properties, local deformation and damage of the materials (metallic and non-metallic systems) in real life loading conditions.

Particular areas of research include:
