Sheffield Undergraduate Research Experience (SURE)
The Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health at the University of Sheffield, is launching its second year of the Sheffield Undergraduate Research Experience (SURE).
Participants will get a taste of what a career in research would be like by undertaking a 6 week summer research project from 21st June to 30th July, 2010.
Students
Are you an undergraduate student in Science, Technology, Engineering or Medicine?
Would you like to sample "life as a researcher"?
Have you ever wondered what a career in research would be like?
Are you considering doing a postgraduate research degree?
If the answer to these questions is "yes" then read on…
SURE (Sheffield Undergraduate Research Experience),
will give you a taste of a career in research.
Up to 12 successful undergraduate applicants will receive £180 per week for 6 weeks and training in biological research methods.
To apply for the scheme, please send a 2 page CV and a brief personal statement indicating your reasons for wishing to participate in the SURE scheme to Dr. Lucy Lee (L.Lee@sheffield.ac.uk) by the 20th January 2010. Supervisors
We are also accepting applications for this years research projects.
Have you got an idea for a short research project?
Would you like to get hands on experience of the whole research process from grant application, interviewing and budget management?
Would you like to be sole supervisor of a student with PI responsibility?
Up to 10 succefull applicants will receive training in supervision and project management and use your skills to supervise the undergraduate and manage a £1000 consumables budget you will receive.
