Applications for Autumn 2017/18 will open on 4th September 2017.

MLTC General Language modules are open to all: students of the University of Sheffield, members of staff of the University, and members of the public above 16 years of age.

Entry restrictions may apply for other MLTC modules (e.g. Tandem, Project, Year Abroad modules, etc.). Please check restrictions on the language-specific page in the left-hand side 'Courses' sub-menu and contact the relevant Language Co-ordinator (See 'Staff') if unsure.

All students may enrol online. In the Autumn, enrolment can be done for one semester only, or for both semesters.

The exact enrolment scheme, fee, and procedure varies depending on who you are and, for current University of Sheffield students, on whether you wish to take the course for credits or not. Please click on the type of student you are from the options below and read the relevant information carefully. Please ensure you also read the information regarding the minimum attendance & coursework requirements and the cancellation policy. Please do not hesitate to contact us for further information on mltc@sheffield.ac.uk.

Enrolment procedure

Everyone may apply online by completing the MLTC application form. The MLTC will contact you by email to confirm your place on the module(s) that is/are most appropriate for you. We will also let you know if you need to do anything else to complete your enrolment.  In some cases, it may be necessary to invite you to come for an interview with a Language Co-ordinator, who will assess your language level. If the course is offered at different times in the week, you will be sent another email with a link to choose a group.

First year undergraduate students and Erasmus students who would like to take a language course for credits may also attend one of our enrolment events. A language tutor will be there to assess which level is most appropriate for you and to identify a group compatible with your timetable. You should bring your student card with you and, if known, your timetable.
