More ... Enterprise

Have you ever thought about starting your own business or working for yourself at some point in your life? Have you already got a business idea that you want to get off the ground? Or do you just want to develop your enterprise skills to help you get that graduate job? If so, there are a range of resources and activities available at The University of Sheffield to support you.

Enterprise workshop and events

A range of intensive workshops and events are offered to help you develop your enterprising and entrepreneurial skills, ranging from a few hours to three days. Some are designed for those who are only just thinking about starting a business and want to explore this further, such as the Creativity Programme. Others are directed at those who have more specific training needs, i.e. wanting more information about sourcing funding or sales and marketing techniques. These sessions are free of charge to University of Sheffield students and postgraduates, and to graduates up to 5 years after graduation. Attendance can also count towards the Sheffield Graduate Award.

Skill Build

Skill Build is a series of free evening seminars with internal and external speakers that gives students the chance to develop their enterprise and entrepreneurial skills. The sessions run over both semesters and you can attend both in full or one in isolation. At the end of the series you will be invited to reflect on what you have learned and a prize will be given for the best presentation. Everyone who has completed the sessions and reflected on what they have learned will receive a certificate and a skills portfolio. Skill Build also counts towards the Sheffield Graduate Award.
