Students' Union Council

Students' Union Council oversees the work of the Student Officers. Members get the chance to grill the Officers with any questions they have and they have the power to mandate the Union Officers to action! Council makes Union budget decisions, sets up Select Committees to investigate issues, and appoints returning officers from amongst its members to run elections and referenda. It also deals with matters relating to the National and Regional Conferences of NUS.

There is a councillor position for every University department plus one for each of eight student groups (Black Students, International Students, LGBT Students (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trans Students), Mature Students, Postgraduate Taught, Postgraduate Research Students, Students with Disabilities, Women Students). Council meets fortnightly throughout termtime.
