World Music Studies MA - Residentials

"After two years of studying ethnomusicology at Sheffield, I finally know what it is to be a musician... Inspiring residentials and world class lectures!
David Currie
MA (2010)

Residentials, in which students come to Sheffield for four days of intensive teaching and discussion, are a vital part of the course. They are held twice a year, normally in the last week of August and the week before Easter. During the residentials, lectures are given by the course staff and by visiting speakers, and students participate in discussion groups, practical workshops, short research tasks, and tutorials. Accommodation is available at competitive rates.
Besides being integral to the teaching of the course, residentials serve an important social purpose in allowing students to get to know each other and to discuss ideas in detail. Keeping in touch is vital for distance learning students, and in addition to contact with their assigned tutor, students are encouraged to use the e-mail discussion list to share ideas and support each other between residential courses.
