Our musical history continues to expand at a rapid pace. Aesthetic boundaries are stretched to their limits and we begin to question if they exist at all. Yet we remain interested and excited by developments, both technical and aesthetic, in sound. At USSS, composition with technology is about understanding how it works and (most importantly) why it works. Composition is about placing your aesthetic within a vibrant tradition. Adrian Moore composes mainly acousmatic music in stereo or multichannel formats. Dorothy Ker works increasingly on large multimedia projects and is interested in the synergies between computer and live performer. A number of postgraduates work with AV using (mainly) open source software.
