Tony Bennett teaches historical musicology and practical skills. He has research interests in the early history of popular music, particularly in the interface between notated and oral culture in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, and has written on Broadside Ballads, tune transmission and Music Hall. He is a violinist and conductor, active in coaching string ensembles and as Director of the University Chamber Orchestra.
