Biography
Peter Cropper studied at the Royal Academy of Music in London. There, he founded the Lindsay String Quartet, of which he was the leader for over forty years, and, later, the International Chamber Music Festival in his home town of Sheffield. He has given many solo recitals and performed concertos with over a dozen different orchestras. His development of the "Music in the Round" concept led to him receiving a "Creative Briton" award in 2000, and more recently he was awarded the 2005 Cobbett Medal from the Worshipful Company of Musicians.
In September 2005 he was appointed Professor of String Quartet, where he teaches an MA in performance practice.
