Teaching

In addition to our research programme, Academic Clinical Psychiatry is involved in a wide range of teaching activities.
MBChB medical degree
We provide the psychiatry module, which forms part of phase 3A of the MBChB degree in Medicine at the University of Sheffield. Professor Woodruff is responsible for the module, and Sarah Turvey is the Course Administrator.
Phase 1b SSC projects
There are also research opportunities for Phase 1b medical students to take a SSC (Student Selected Component) in the department.

MSc in Translational Neuroscience
We provide elements of this new MSc course, which offers theoretical and practical training into fundamental aspects of contemporary neuroscience encompassing molecular, cellular, anatomical and behavioural levels.

Postgraduate research opportunities
Opportunities exist for those interested in pursuing a supervised research project leading to an MPhil/PhD in biological psychiatry, neuroscience and neuroimaging. Please contact Professor Peter Woodruff for preliminary enquiries.

Our teaching facilities
The department's library offers a wide range of books and journals about psychiatry and other related fields, and is a quiet working enviroment for students and visitors to the department. Networked PCs are available for student and staff use.
Undergraduate and postgraduate taught course lectures take place in our newly refurbished lecture theatre, which has a range of audio visual equipment and videoconferencing facilities.
A seminar room is also used for small group teaching.
