Biography
I joined the University of Sheffield in 2011 and am a part of the Translational Neuropsychology Group led by Professor Venneri which focuses on the early detection, diagnosis and assessment of dementia, with an emphasis on Alzheimer’s disease.
My PhD in Psychology (Cognitive Neuroscience) focused on the cross-cultural neuropsychological assessment of dementia and involved the standardisation and validation of instruments used in the screening and assessment of Alzheimer’s disease in British and Caribbean populations.
Research Interests
I am interested in the cognitive, sociodemographic and neuroscientific bases of cultural differences in neuropsychological performance as well as the factors that promote optimum cognitive performance.
My research interests also focus on cross-cultural factors which influence assessment of dementia and in standardisation and improving the validity of neuropsychological instruments for assessment in diverse ethnic groups.
Current projects
- Uncovering the biological correlates of cognitive impairment associated with fatigue in ME/CFS: a pilot study of cognition and functional connectivity pre and post-exertional malaise
- Improving detection and prevention of cognitive decline in ageing
- Standardisation of neuropsychological battery for use in dementia assessment in British populations
- Cross-cultural standardisation of instruments for use in dementia assessment in the Caribbean
- Multimodal Intensive Cognitive Stimulation
