Food and Catering
The rooms in Ranmoor Village have a shared kitchen with a fridge, freezer, microwave, hob and oven. However, kitchen equipment (pans, crockery, cutlery etc.) will not be provided and you will have to bring or buy your own. There will however be many occasions during Discovery Week for eating out and buy your own food in restaurants and cafes if you do not wish to cook in your flat.
Internet
Wireless and wired internet is available through your University Log In. All students are provided with a University of Sheffield computer account and a university email address. Activating your computer account before coming to Sheffield will give you a head start in the registration process and will allow you to access your University email account, and other online resources, as soon as you arrive on campus. You will be provided with instructions on how to do this via the preregistration email in August/early September.
Arriving
The majority of events in Discovery Week will be on the main University campus. There will be a room available on campus during the day where you can store bags during the day before you go to the Ranmoor Village to check into your room.
If you are arriving on the Monday, your room will be available from 4pm. On Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday, you will be able to arrive any time from 2pm.
Leaving
All rooms must be vacated by 8am on Friday 20th September. If you will be moving into a room in University Accommodation, you will be able to move into your permanent room from 2pm on Friday if available or alternatively on Saturday from 2pm (depending on where your permanent room is) and there will be no charge for staying additional nights if your contract starts on Saturday 21 or Sunday 22 September 2013.
A room will be available both in the Ranmoor Village and in the Octagon Centre on campus for you to store your bags if you need to.
