Study At Sheffield University ... A Dream Come True

Retrospection to the past few months still amazes me. It's a great feeling to finally be here studying Business Studies and Information Management at The University of Sheffield, thanks to the International Office staff for guiding me through the entire procedure.
There are lots of formalities to be completed and lots of paperwork to be done before you actually start your course. It's very easy to lose track of events but I found the University to be really organised during the Orientation and Intro Week where we had help at every step. Also the Students' Union is one place to be when you don't know places around. I think one must read the Guide and the leaflets on offer to be on track. Apart from that, talking out your problems with the concerned authorities is very important because you need to be sure of what is going on.
The teaching methods are nice, especially the way the tutorials have been organised. I got a lot of help from my personal tutor. The library is fabulous and so are the IT centres. The University and the department web pages are full of resources for students - the modules, e-handouts, the online reservation of books from the library. No wonder it was rated as the University of the Year 2001.
Studies apart, there's a lot to do at the Union. There are clubs and societies one can join; or maybe go out for movies or to Bar One. There is something for everyone.
In India I never used to cook food or wash my clothes; that I do these days. I think it makes you really self-reliant and I seem to like it now. This place is full of challenges and adventure and I am looking forward to my three years of undergraduate study.
