Making the Most of Intro Week
During your early days at University, we want you to start:
- Being well-informed about academic and social issues.
- Understanding something about university life.
- Recognising the skills needed to succeed.
- Engaging with your subject.
- Being confident about your future.
- Feeling you belong.
- Knowing where to go for help.
- Making friends.
Take your time; Intro Week is not typical of University life.
- Intro Week is your chance to start exploring what university life can offer you, socially as well as academically. But don’t feel you have to go along with the crowd, or that you have to sign up for anything you don’t want to do or feel uncomfortable about.
- You could make lasting friends during Intro Week, but don’t worry if it takes a bit longer to meet like-minded people. There are over 20,000 full-time students in this University, and you have plenty of time to meet and make good friends.
- You are still you and do not have to change to fit in.
Look out for students in colourful t-shirts!
These students are here to help answer any questions you may have, point you in the right direction and help you settle into life at University.
Feeling a bit left out or nervous?
