What Type Of Account?

1. Open a current account as soon as possible after arrival in Sheffield.

1. A current account enables immediate cash withdrawals (provided appropriate funds have been deposited) and payment for goods by cheque.
2. A cheque book will be supplied on which your name and account number have been printed. Many stores in the UK no longer accept payment by cheque. Information will be displayed in stores where this applies.
3. 'Student accounts' (a current account with special terms for students) may not be available to certain categories of student. If this is the case, ask what kind of accounts are available.

2. Some banks have a Basic Bank Account which is roughly equivalent to a student account but with no credit/overdraft facilities.
