The University of Sheffield
Welcome to Sheffield

Which Airport ?

1. FLY INTO MANCHESTER AIRPORT IF AT ALL POSSIBLE.

Ending your flight in London will mean you have a long, expensive and exhausting journey, carrying luggage up and down stairs etc.

a. Many airlines fly direct to Manchester. For example, daily flights from Singapore (Singapore Airlines), Chicago (American and United Airlines) and New York (British Airways).

b. Manchester arrivals can take advantage of our subsidised University bus service (9-16 September 2012 - Meet and Greet - see below) from Manchester Airport direct to Sheffield. You should plan to arrive before 5.00 pm.

Meet and Greet Scheme

c. Arrivals at other times should follow instructions in `From Airport to Sheffield´ (see below).

3. LONDON:

If arriving in London is unavoidable, a shuttle flight to Manchester is strongly recommended. The cost of this will be greatly reduced if booked at the same time as the long haul flight. Travelling from London to Sheffield by road or rail can take up to 7 hours (depending on which airport). The journey can be difficult and can cost as much as a shuttle flight. Flying to Manchester is far preferable. Lack of porters, elevators etc. mean that you will have to carry luggage, including up and down stairs.
