Rail and Coach Cards
1. Student Travel Cards
- These will reduce fares by approximately one-third on every journey and are valid for one year. They are for people who are under 26 and all those who are full-time students.
- A Young Persons Coach Card costs £10.00 and a student rail card costs £24.00.
2. To obtain a Travel Card:
a. Young Person/Student Rail card – show documentation:
- letter from the University to prove full-time student status or age (under 26).
- one passport photograph (available cheaply from photograph booths at most stations, airports etc).
- Students aged 26 and over are usually required to have application forms stamped by University, so cannot normally acquire cards before registration at University.

3. Travel by coach is generally cheaper than by rail.
4. Non-students travelling with a student are not eligible for student fares.
5. Children (under 16) travel at reduced rates.
