‘Visa’ Or Leave To Enter/Remain Extensions
1. Check your passport. When does your visa expire? It is illegal to stay after this date or to stop your studies before it.
- You should have LEAVE until the end of your course PLUS 4 MONTHS UNLESS:
i. You are here on a course of less than one academic year OR
ii. You have had to re-sit exams/re-submit thesis or dissertation.
- If you have not been given your full Leave entitlement, please obtain a "visa correction scheme" pack from SSiD.
- It is your responsibility to ensure that your visa does not expire while you are in the UK.
2. Who Can Advise Me?
a. The Student Support and Guidance Section of Student Services deals with all student status immigration matters. Go to SSiD or email:

b. All other matters (dependants, visitors, staying on for more than 4 months after studies) are dealt with by the Advice Centre in the Union of Students. See:
