A. Careers Service

E. Mature Students

  • Mature undergraduates are those who are 21 and older on entry to an undergraduate degree.
  • There is an online community for mature students, instructions on how to join will be sent out via the mature student email group.
  • Information about events of particular relevance to mature students will be sent out via the mature student email group, and the mature student newsletter.
  • The Essential Guide for Mature Students is sent pre-arrival to all home mature students and is available from SSiD.
  • All mature students are offered a student mentor, who is a current undergraduate student. You will receive information about ‘Sheffield Mentors’ pre-arrival through the post.
  • There are mature student events throughout Intro Week and the year; these will be advertised via the mature student email group, and the mature student newsletter.
  • The Union of Students have an elected officer whose responsiblities include representing the views of mature students, both within the Union of Students and the University, you will be notified of who this is in the mature student newsletter.

Welcome Events

  • Welcome Evening for Mature Students: Wednesday 9th September and Welcome Day for Mature Students Thursday 10th September – this is a chance for new students to meet current mature students and to find out a bit more about the University, a buffet and refreshments are included at both events.
  • Welcome Evening for local students and their families: Monday 7th September – this is a chance for new local students to meet current local students and staff and find out a bit more about the University. A free buffet is included.
