Cultivating Ambition

  • Amazing staff and students

    Leading researchers teach in all our departments. They give our students the extra push they need to achieve great things. We want to attract and retain people with ambition and to provide them with the opportunities to realise their dreams and develop their talents.

  • philosophy in the city

    Our Philosophy in the City programme has developed into a large-scale project, with over 100 student volunteers working on a sustained basis in several local schools and a homeless refugee centre.

  • apprenticeships

    We're creating 250 apprenticeships a year at our Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC). For the apprentices, aged 16 and upwards, it's an opportunity to learn from world-leading experts.

  • professional training

    We believe staff should have the opportunity to realise their full potential. Through the Sheffield Leader, Sheffield Professional and Sheffield Academic programmes we offer structured support for staff development.
