Calendar of the academic year 2010-2011

The student year is very full. Below is a summary of the main academic-related events that will affect your son or daughter over the next 12 months and some points to note at various times throughout the year.

The dates relate to undergraduate degree course students and may not necessarily be relevant to nursing students.

  13 to 18 September Residential programme for new international students
  20 to 26 September Intro Week
  20 September Continuing students need to check e-mails and the University web site for instructions. You must register on-line by Friday 24 September
  27 September Start of Autumn semester
     
October 15 October Last date for change to Autumn semester modules
  15 October Last date to report any special examination requirements
     
  Note: It's most likely that students will suffer from homesickness at this time of year
     
December 18 December Start of Christmas vacation
     
January 2011
 16 January End of Christmas vacation
  17 January Start of exams
     
February 4 February End of exams
  5 February End of Autumn semester
  7 February Start of Spring semester
  25 February Last date to change Spring semester modules

  9 April Start of Easter vacation
     
April 2 May End of Easter vacation
  Note: These dates will vary from year to year according to when Easter falls

  18 to 22 July Annual degree ceremonies
     
August 8 to 26 August Re-sit exams
  Note: It's important to be available during the whole resit period in August if anything has been failed
