The University also provides extensive sporting facilities for students through Sport Sheffield, which manages them on behalf of the University.

The air-conditioned gym has 150 pieces of fitness equipment, with expert staff on hand at all times.

Bouldering wall
The Matrix, one of the largest fibreglass moulded bouldering walls in the country, providing routes for a range of abilities, from beginners to experienced climbers.
Indoor and racquet sports
A multi-purpose sports hall, equipped with a sprung floor marked out for badminton, basketball, volleyball and netball, is available to student clubs for coaching sessions, or for casual use.
There are four squash courts plus four floodlit tennis courts.

Synthetic pitches and playing fields
Football, rugby, hockey and cricket teams have access to three premier-standard synthetic pitches, one of which is a new-generation pitch resembling natural grass, for use by players wearing moulded stud boots.
45 acres of high-quality grass playing fields are also available for football and rugby.
Accessibility
Our sports facilities have recently been refurbished with greater accessibility in mind. Doors and access routes are wheelchair friendly and there are disabled parking spaces near the main entrance.
A poolside hoist allows access to the swimming pool and there are designated disabled changing rooms.
Sports Bursary Scheme
This scheme has supported over 60 sports men and women competing at an international level.
Sports bursars have free use of our sports facilities, including S10health fitness centre. We support sports recognised by Sport England.
