Students' Union
When your child becomes a Sheffield student he or she automatically becomes a member of what is generally held to be the best Union of Students in the UK.
Sheffield was named Students' Union of the year at the prestigious Club Mirror Awards 2004.
The Union is at the heart of the campus. Its shops, cafes and bars, are open seven days a week, from breakfast into the night.
Practical help and advice
The Student Advice Centre is free and confidential. Highly-trained staff advisers offer help on problems such as managing money, housing contracts and academic and welfare matters.
For student parents, the Union has top-rated nursery facilities and a play scheme during school holidays.
Study areas
The Union building is also there to give students somewhere quiet to sit, work or read.
During exams the building is open 24 hours, providing a safe environment for study and free hot drinks.
