Disposal of surplus electrical equipment and batteries
Disposal of surplus electrical equipment for recycling
Obsolete or scrap electrical equipment cannot be disposed of in general waste or thrown in the skip. You (or we) could be fined if caught dumping any electrical items in an unauthorised area. Computer items which could be re-used either complete or for spares should be given to Richard Webb in E30.
Before disposal, please fill in our online disposal form:
Enter all details such as serial number, room of origin and the dept. code which can be found on the item's Electrical Safety Test sticker. This information is required by the department for reference. You will receive a copy of this information by email after submitting the form.
Contact Richard Webb (E30) if you have any queries.
Please retain your unwanted electrical items until collection can be arranged.
Disposal of dry batteries
All used dry batteries are considered toxic and must not be thrown in waste bins or in the skip. Departmental used batteries should be taken to the photocopier room (E31) and placed in the box provided.
