Information for Incoming Exchange Students
Students arriving from exchange programs (Erasmus or Study Abroad) at Sheffield can choose from a variety of courses offered in the Department of Politics. Students spending a full academic year at Sheffield can choose a maximum of 120 credits per year (maximum 60 per semester) and cannot have less than 40 credit per semester (minimum of 100 credits per year). Students spending only a semester at Sheffield can have a minimum of 40 credits and a maximum of 60.
Module Restrictions: Study Abroad students cannot take any of the Level 3 modules, nor can they take the spine courses at Levels 1 and 2 (POL113 Introduction to Political Analysis & POL229: Political Analysis: Research Design and Data Analysis). Additionally, there may be restrictions on specific years, based on the demand for modules and the offerings during the academic year.

- POL226 Comparative Politics: Citizens, States, Power and Protest (20 credits)

Erasmus students
Erasmus students have to choose all their courses from the offerings of the Politics department.
Study Abroad students
Study abroad students can get credits from any department in the University, subject to availability (and specific module prerequisites).
Language Requirements
Incoming exchange students must prove proficiency in English to be accepted for study at Sheffield. Requirements currently are a combined TOEFL score of at least 95 (minimum 19 in Listening, 19 in Writing, 20 in Reading, 22 in Speaking), or an IELTS combined score of IELTS 7.0 (minimum 6.0 in each component). These requirements are subject to change.
