The Department takes its responsibilities to its students very seriously. These extend beyond the class room. We offer extensive personal and academic support to our students, both within the Department and through the wide range of services offered by the University.

All students have Personal Tutors who meet their students at least once a semester, maintaining regular contact via email. We aim to ensure students have the same tutor whilst at Sheffield.
The Department invests heavily in electronic learning resources and the virtual learning environment.
Most smaller classes are in Elmfield, the building where the Department is located. Elmfield also has computer facilities and a social space. Lectures generally take place outside the Department.
Extensive administrative support is provided by the staff in the Undergraduate Office.
