Professor Roy Hattersley
Roy Hattersley is an Honorary Professor in the Department of Politics. He was Labour MP for Birmingham, Sparkbrook from 1964 until 1997. During his time in the House of Commons he was Secretary of State for Prices and Consumer Protection in the Labour Government led by James Callaghan, and was Deputy Leader of the Labour Party from 1983 until 1992. His links with the city of Sheffield are extensive. Since retiring from the House of Commons he has become a distinguished commentator on the Labour Party, and on British politics in general.
