EPSRC Centres for Doctoral Training
The EPSRC has invested £250 million in establishing 44 Centres for Doctoral Training. These Centres are a radical break from traditional PhD studies. They provide a supportive and exciting environment for students to carry out a challenging and original PhD-level research project, together with a formal programme of taught courses to develop and enhance their technical interdisciplinary knowledge, and broaden their skills set.
The innovative and exciting training programmes within each Centre draw on established research excellence to produce highly skilled and talented researchers. The University of Sheffield has confirmed its reputation for research excellence by securing five Centres.
