Arts and Humanities Research Stories

The Faculty of Arts and Humanities brings together the academic strengths of the Departments of Archaeology, Biblical Studies, History, Music, and Philosophy, and the School of English Language, Literature and Linguistics, and the School of Modern Languages and Linguistics.


Engineering Research Stories

The Engineering Faculty consists of the seven academic departments of Automatic Control and Systems Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Chemical and Process Engineering, Civil and Structural Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering and Engineering Materials. Of these Computer Science is also a member of the Faculty of Pure Sciences.


Medicine, Dentistry and Health Research Stories

The Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health brings together the strengths of four Schools of Medicine, Clinical Dentistry, Nursing and Midwifery and Health & Related Research. Since its inception in 1905, the Faculty of Medicine has played a prominent role in the academic development of the University and is able to make a major contribution to the socio-economic circumstances of the South Yorkshire sub-region.


Science Research Stories

Departments in the Faculty of Science span a wide range of subjects from Psychology to Physics and Astronomy, Geography to Biomedical Science. A distinctive feature of faculty life is the strong interdisciplinary ethos, which is reflected in the many inter-department links together with a high proportion of the University's Research Centres.


Social Sciences Research Stories

The Faculty of Social Sciences brings together a community of 13 departments/schools which includes: Architecture, East Asian Studies, Economics, Education, Geography, Information Studies, Journalism, Law, Landscape, Management, Politics, Sociological Studies and Town & Regional Planning.
