The protection, exploitation and commercialisation of academic ideas and intellectual property created during the course of research and research-related activities is an important part of the University's strategy. This process by which the commercial viability of research and research-related activities undertaken at the University is assessed and progressed is referred to as the commercial assessment system (CAS).
The Commercialisation of IP Team provide advice and guidance in respect of commercial opportunities assessment and intellectual property as it relates to the exploitation of inventions and ideas and are responsible for the delivery of University-wide functions relating to the commercialisation of the University’s intellectual property, including the University’s CAS and patents and licensing administration.
