Pre –award support for academic and departmental support staff in the costing and pricing of research proposals and the general administration of applications, both electronic and hard-copy. Support for the drafting and negotiation of all types of research agreements, such as sub-contracts collaboration agreements, confidentiality and material transfer agreements, CASE agreements and grant transfers.
The Business Analysis Team supports the strategic planning of research and innovation activities through the provision of a range of management information and benchmarking data. It is responsible for leading the management and preparation of key external returns, such as the REF and HEBCI, and informing institutional strategies in relation to these. The Business Analysis Team also administers externally funded post-graduate research studentships and scholarships, as well as those funded by the University.

Provision of advice and guidance on research student matters to postgraduate research students, academic and administrative staff. Administration of the PGR student record, e.g. recording extensions, leaves of absence, thesis submission, processing of degree awards, etc. Student reception for submission of theses and for student enquiries. Monitoring of student progression and support for informal and formal student progression issues. PGR student Management Information.

Quality and Governance Team
Managing the University's approach to quality assuring the provision and standards for postgraduate researchers, including overseeing the regulations. Promoting awareness and understanding of good research practices (research ethics and integrity), including further embedding the University's ethics review procedure. Supporting health and social care research projects through research governance requirements and supporting University-sponsored clinical trials. Manage RIS's systems and procedures, including UBase, recruitment and SRDS.
