Information on the University Ethics Review Procedure

This page provides additonal information for staff or students (and their supervisors) who need to apply for ethics approval via the University Research Ethics Procedure. The guidance provided here does not constitute University policy but supports the University's 'Ethics Policy Governing Research Involving Human Paticipants, Personal Data and Human Tissue'.

Research ethics application forms
For staff and postgraduate research students This is the standard application form for staff or postgraduate research students applying for ethics approval via the University Research Ethics Procedure. This form should also be used by staff wishing to submit a generic ethics application.
For undergraduate and postgraduate taught students This is the standard application form for undergraduate or postgraduate taught students (and their supervisors) applying for ethics approval via the University Research Ethics Procedure.
PLEASE NOTE! Some departments choose to use their own discipline-tailored versions of the above application forms; please contact your departmental Ethics Administrator for details of the correct form to use (a list of Ethics Administrators is provided on the right-hand side of this page)
Minor Variant Form Applies only to undergraduate and postgraduate-taught student research: for use when confirming that ethics approval is NOT required as the project is a minor variant of a previously approved project.
