Information for Examiners
The following resources are available to internal and external examiners of research degree programmes. All forms and documents are available to download from the Forms and Publications link opposite.
- Appointment of Examiners/Replacement of Examiners - provides information and forms relating to the appointment/replacement of examiners and on examiners' expenses.
- The oral examination (viva voce) - provides information and forms relating to the arrangements for and conduct of the oral examination.
- After the oral examination: recommendations and reports - provides an overview of the options available to the examiners and the process to be undertaken in agreeing a recommendation. More detailed guidance is available in the Guidance Notes for Examiners.
Examiners' report forms
Preliminary and joint report forms are sent to examiners via email at the same time that the student's thesis is despatched. However, they can also be downloaded from the box on the right to enable electronic completion. Please note that the first page is not available to download, as this is pre-filled with each candidate's details.
Examiners expenses
Expenses and fees for examiners should be claimed through Research & Innovation Services and not the academic department.
