The University of Sheffield
Research & Innovation Services

Business and Partnerships

The University has a variety of flexible and innovative ways for academia to collaborate with external partners in the private, public and third sectors. These partnerships stimulate and enrich the research we do, fuelling innovation and keeping researchers in touch with the real questions and challenges faced by modern society.

The University has formalised its commitment to Impact, Innovation and Knowledge Exchange (IIKE) in the form of its IIKE strategy. The IIKE strategy focuses on the University’s commitment to forming partnerships with new and existing external partners, making the most of our Intellectual Property (IP), engaging with the city region and embedding impact.

Supporting academic colleagues who wish to engage with external partners are the dedicated faculty Gateways; they underpin and facilitate Knowledge Exchange between the University and external partners. Additionally, leading on the implementation of the IIKE strategy and providing guidance and support to Knowledge Exchange activities are the Research Partnerships and Engagement team.
