ESRC Impact Acceleration Account

ESRC logoOur £670,000 ESRC IAA enhances and accelerates the impact of our Social Science research by allowing us to flexibly and responsively support projects which enable our research to reach more audiences, our staff to engage with key partners, and hopefully, achieve greater impact from our research.

Priority is given to investment in Knowledge Exchange (KE) activities which complement the delivery of the University’s Impact, Innovation and Knowledge Exchange (IIKE) objectives, and activities that have the potential to deliver impact with reach and significance.

ESRC IAA funding is used to provide a flexible and rapid response to opportunities in the following key areas:

• To develop strategic partnerships that support the priority research themes (Sustainable Growth, Wellbeing and the Life Course, Inclusive Society, Digital Society), major centres and networks centres, and the White Rose Doctoral Training Centre.
• To support well-established research with clear, deliverable KE objectives that can lead to significant impact and opportunity for engagement.
• To enhance and deepen relationships with key policy partners in the UK, Europe and internationally through links such as: KE projects; two-way research sabbaticals and Fellowships; collaborative PhDs and Internships, networking opportunities; and policy advice and inputs which create the potential for impact.
• Support for researchers to build networks with potential users of the products of their research, and further work to establish ‘proof of concept’ for their innovations.

All applications to the ESRC IAA must build on previous or existing high quality Social Science research (not specifically ESRC funded). The ESRC IAA is managed by the Social Sciences Partnerships, Impact and Knowledge Exchange team in the Faculty of Social Sciences.

More information about the team and its work is available on the SSPIKE website.
