Biography

After studying German and Polish for my BA, I earned an MA in Polish Philology
and an MA in Teaching Polish as a Foreign Language from the Jagiellonian
University in Krakow in 2009. Since then, I have been working towards a PhD in
linguistics at the same university.

In September 2010 I came to Sheffield to join the department of Russian and
Slavonic Studies as a lector in Polish. Previously, I have taught Polish for
foreigners at all levels of proficiency in Sweden (Stockholm University) and
Poland (Jagiellonian University).

Research Interests

Recently, a class of indeclinable nouns has emerged in Polish, otherwise a
language with a fairly elaborate and rigid case system. Is this to be
considered symptomatic of a broader typological transformation in Polish
grammar? My PhD research will hopefully contribute to a better understanding of
this question.

Apart from my fascination with the wonderful world of Polish morphosyntax, I am
also interested in teaching methodologies for Polish as a foreign language.

Teaching

My teaching at the Department includes both language classes and content
modules:
