Biography
I first spent time in CTRU in 2006 on a 9-month secondment helping to design a new web-based data capture tool, along with implementing some departmental data management processes and SOPs.
In 2009, I returned to CTRU to continue working as a Data Manager, taking on an additional role to manage the quality review processes across the department. My main study responsibilities are to oversee the data management of TRIO and other bone research studies, as well as CoPE, the Corn Plaster study. I am also involved in other CTRU studies, including Booster and Cactus. I am widely experienced in the design and use of databases and EDC applications, and continue to put this experience to good use working with CTRU colleagues on the development of CTRU´s next-generation database management system.
I started working as a Data Manager for Glaxo in 1986. Over 15 years with the Company, I worked in many therapeutic areas spanning all trial phases, and including several years as a Principal Data Manager in the Phase I group. In addition to general project and data management duties, I specialised in database design and development, including building EDC applications. I also won a company award for designing a SAS-based `generic´ database management system, aimed at providing a low-resource, high-speed data management tool for Phase I trials. After leaving Glaxo, I spent a couple of years out in CRO-land before joining the University of Sheffield´s Cancer Research Centre in 2004 as a Data Manager. I continue to work part-time at the Cancer Research Centre, splitting his working week between there and CTRU.
