Review Body for Interventional Procedures (ReBIP)

Any surgeon who undertakes this procedure is invited to participate in this database, which is organized in conjunction with the British Association of Paediatric Surgeons (BAPS):

The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) through the Interventional Procedures Advisory Committee (IPAC) is working to assess the safety and efficacy of interventional procedures such as this where those procedures are novel, are undertaken by only a small number of practitioners or where evidence of the systematic appraisal of the issues is not available. While the IPAC selects interventions for assessment, it is the Review Body for Interventional Procedures (ReBIP), based in the Universities of Sheffield and Aberdeen, which undertakes or oversees the assessment. The establishment of this particular database register is part of the safety and efficacy assessment of the Nuss procedure.
In the first instance, prospective participants are requested to contact Mr. Marc Chattle to discuss how they can obtain access to the electronic database. Although this is a locally installed database, copies of the reporting forms are made available here. All the forms are within one PDF document, which can be downloaded via the 'Downloads' box.
An updated 2007 version of the Nuss Procedure for pectus excavatum database has now been developed following detailed feedback from centres carrying out the Nuss procedure, and the paper form version of this updated database can be downloaded from this web-page. If you are carrying out the Nuss procedure, and you do not have a copy of the 2007 version of the electronic database, please contact Mr. Marc Chattle for further details.
