Biography
I joined the Medical Care Research Unit in 2007 as part of a team evaluating innovations in urgent care services for the Department of Health. Prior to this I was based in the Public Health Section of ScHARR as a Project Manager for a large Department of Health funded project, which developed methodologies for and evaluated quality and safety of patient care through case note review. Since joining the MCRU I have undertaken a number of projects in relation to emergency care and urgent care, in particular using and/or linking large routine datasets to analyse policy initiatives or establish the frequency of events. I am currently part of a team working on a 5 year NIHR Programme Grant to develop new ways of measuring the quality of ambulance service care. I am also undertaking a PhD which is linked to the NIHR Programme Grant.
Research Interests
My research interests are in emergency and urgent care systems, in particular the evaluation of new services, quality of care and routine data analysis and linking.
Teaching Interests
I contribute to the supervision and marking of Masters dissertations and I also undertake small group facilitation for the MBChB in relation to study design, critical appraisal (RCTs and Systematic Reviews) and medical statistics.
