Research Interests
Graham is a Lecturer in Social Science and Health. He has 25 years experience in NHS management and health policy – he was previously a senior civil servant, and director of a UK health authority. He is interested in the relationship between health, well-being and development processes, especially for marginalised and impoverished people; health literacy and empowerment, especially in a West African context; international and global health policy processes, and strengthening health systems in the developing world.

- ScHARR course leader for MSC Health Services management, in collaboration with School of Management Studies
- Module leader for International Health Policy and Systems module on MPH programme, developing collaborative inquiries in Kerala, Zambia, and The Gambia
- Member, ScHARR Teaching Committee
- Contributor to Health Leadership and Management modules on Masters in Public Health
- Working with The Institute of Lifelong Learning on developing the health strand of the Higher Futures programme, and the Working with Communities Foundation degree

- Expert Advisor on Health Scrutiny for Centre for Public Scrutiny
- Former Trustee of Village Aid, an international NGO active in West Africa

Collaborations
Principal Investigator for ESRC "Developing an International Research for Health network", a collaboration with the University of Zambia, the University of Ghana, and the Aga Khan University, Pakistan, that focuses on participative methods in health research and practice.
Co founder of Information Development for Empowerment Advocacy and Sustainability (IDEAS). This is an interdisciplinary research and applied project developed by six scholars in ethnomusicology, information studies, sociological studies, and health and development at the University of Sheffield and the University of Loughborough. The objectives are to study and facilitate local knowledge maintenance and transfer within African communities
