Biography

My first degree was in Social and Political Sciences. Following this I worked in community education and development for some years, before completing a PhD. My PhD research was an interdisciplinary study of information systems design, gender relations and models of user involvement. This led to later research about information systems in the UK National Health Service, and to a growing interest in sociological research about health and well-being.

Research Interests

I am a member of the interdisciplinary University Centre for the Study of Childhood and Youth

Teaching Interests

As Director of Learning and Teaching for ScHARR, my focus is on supporting the successful development and delivery of our Masters programmes and our contributions to the Public Health elements of the undergraduate curriculum in Medicine. I have a particular interest in inter-professional learning, and I co-facilitate courses on child welfare with colleagues and students in Social Work, Medicine and Educational Psychology. I also lead a Masters module in Gender Relations and Health.
