The University of Sheffield is committed to working with local schools and colleges to ensure that young people with the potential to pursue their education at a research led Higher Education Institution are made fully aware of their options.

The University of Sheffield funds a local mentoring scheme to support young people through some of the most crucial decision-making stages of their school career.

The aims of US in Schools – Mentoring, are:

The University will be working with schools in the local area to identify young people who can benefit from the support and guidance of our students. The scheme will particularly focus on young people in years 9, 10 and 11 who fall into one or more of the criteria below:

All of the young people who receive support from a student mentor will:

1. Have the academic potential to succeed in higher education
2. Demonstrate a commitment to their studies
