The Sheffield Centre for International Drylands Research is a semi-autonomous research centre within the University of Sheffield. The centre is overseen by its Director, Prof. Mark D. Bateman. Under the Auspices of SCIDR, research themes are headed up by eminent academics who are experts in those particular fields. SCIDR associates are drawn from within the department of Geography, department of Archaeology & Prehistory and from across the Environment Division within the University of Sheffield.
