One Big Question (5)
5. How do we make time to be innovative?
This perhaps brings out broader questions – how well do we have conversations with our managers about how we use our time and what do we use our time for? Staff need to have this conversation, to open up the issue, how do we agree on the best use of time to innovate, rather than operationalise.
In addition, we need to consider a package of support around innovation so that people know what route to use to seek resources. Examples include business process reviews through our LEAN project, where people collectively feel there are improvements to be made. We need to enable forums where staff can come together to talk about innovations and ideas. Where does a member of professional staff within a department go with new ideas? We need to think about that.
