Core modules
Key Academic Skills
These modules provide students with the learner development and independence skills which are required at postgraduate level. Students are expected to develop self-awareness and learner autonomy during these modules.
Research Project
This module is designed to allow students to plan and undertake a research project relevant to their subject area.

This module develops students´ awareness of the relationship between science and society, encouraging them to develop a philosophical and critical approach to the foundations and methods of science. The extent to which religious beliefs and socio-political factors influence approaches to science, and the ethical and socio-political implications of major discoveries, breakthroughs and projects are examined through the analysis of contemporary controversies. Efforts to achieve greater international agreement on the standards for conducting research are also considered.
Statistical Design for Science and Engineering Research
This module develops students' appreciation of the principles underpinning original research in science and engineering, and the tools requiresd to critique the existing research.
