The Sheffield International College

Sheffield is my home town. My grandfather and father both studied at the University, so I feel very privileged to be the Director of Sheffield International College.

We have staff at the College who have worked all over the world – in fact, I worked abroad for over 20 years myself.

Our collective experience ensures you will have a very warm welcome, wherever you come from.

It also means we genuinely understand the challenges faced by international students and we can promise to do everything to help you fulfil your potential.

The Student Services team will guide you through your move to the UK and then throughout your time with us. Our aim is for you to feel as though Sheffield is your second home.

We will encourage you to take full advantage of our Learning Outside the Classroom activities so you can meet new friends, develop useful skills, enjoy new experiences and, of course, have lots of opportunity to practise your English in different situations. Recently our students have:

• Participated in the Book Group, Ladies´ Tea Club and Café Scientifique



• Run a Sunday Newspaper Club for other students



• Attended ice hockey and basketball matches



• Played in our Sunday football league



• Attended guest lectures given by experts in their subject areas



• Done voluntary work at a local farm



• Been hiking in the Peak District, the beautiful National Park close to Sheffield



• Enjoyed the sculpture exhibition in the gardens of Chatsworth House (where Pride and Prejudice and The Duchess were filmed)



• Celebrated Christmas with Santa Claus, Chinese New Year with a traditional lion dance, and Eid with Arabic sweets
